As it usually happens in the data science world, the challenge after storing the data is the implementation of appropriate analytics for extracting useful knowledge. Data Visualization is the probably the most insightfull way to serve this objective. Data visualization is the set of tools and techniques that present data visually in order for end users better understand the information and put it in a business context. It could also serve as an iterative, combinational knowledge discovery methodology that supports data and business analysts.

As for any type of complex data, space-time related data raise extra challenges due to its time-dependent geo-referenced nature, thus, its visualization is essential for “hands-on” analysis tasks. We work actively in this field focusing on fields, such as visual trajectory data warehousing with a special interest to visual OLAP analysis, as well as, visual-driven exploration of mobility data via similarity-based analysis. Research highlights include:

  • Hermes.ChoroChronos.org trajectory data analysis and visualization web platform.
  • T-Warehouse visual OLAP trajectory analysis tool.
